1. Information we collect

• Images you process. In Local mode, images are processed in your browser and are not intentionally uploaded to BGFree servers. In Cloud / Pro mode, the image you choose is sent to our backend and to Remove.bg for background removal.
• Account information. If you sign in with Google, we may receive your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image to create and maintain your account.
• Payment and transaction information. Payments are processed by PayPal. We store product identifiers, order status, credit balances, and transaction records. We do not store full card or PayPal account credentials.
• Service usage information. We may store credit usage logs, processing status, image file size, error status, timestamps, and similar operational records to keep credits, refunds, support, and abuse prevention working correctly.
• Technical information. We may collect limited technical data such as cookies, session identifiers, IP address, browser information, and request metadata for authentication, security, debugging, and fraud prevention.

2. How we use information

• Provide background removal and return downloadable results.
• Authenticate users and maintain sessions.
• Track credits, purchases, failed jobs, refunds, and transaction status.
• Prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and service misuse.
• Debug failures, improve reliability, and respond to support requests.
• Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and payment obligations where applicable.

3. Third-party services

BGFree currently depends on these service providers:

• Remove.bg for Cloud / Pro background removal processing.
• Google OAuth for sign-in.
• PayPal for payment processing.
• Cloudflare Pages, D1, and KV for hosting, database, and session storage.
• @imgly/background-removal for browser-side Local mode processing.

These providers may process data under their own privacy policies. Cloud / Pro image processing requires sending your selected image to Remove.bg. Do not use Cloud / Pro mode for images you are not allowed to upload or share with a third-party processor.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use necessary cookies or similar storage for authentication and session management, including the BGFree session cookie. We do not currently describe any advertising cookies or analytics cookies in this MVP draft. If analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking tools are added later, this policy and the Cookie Policy must be updated before launch.

5. Data retention

Local mode images remain in your browser. For Cloud / Pro mode, BGFree does not intentionally store processed images after the request completes, but temporary transfer and provider-side processing may occur. Account, session, credit, transaction, and usage logs may be retained as needed for service operation, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling, and legal compliance. 6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing of your personal information. 7. International users

BGFree may be operated using infrastructure and providers in different countries. If you access the service from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or other regulated regions, additional disclosures, lawful bases, consent controls, and transfer safeguards may be required before commercial launch. 8. Children

BGFree is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Do not upload images of children unless you have the legal right to do so and the processing is lawful in your jurisdiction.
